What is Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)?

The Riancorp Laser is compatible with any electronic medical device

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses an infrared laser with an invisible wavelength of 904 nanometres (nm), allowing it to penetrate deeply into tissue. LLLT is commonly used to assist in the management of lymphoedema and may also be beneficial for:

  • Pain relief
  • Acupuncture treatment
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Nerve conditions
  • Scar and fibrotic tissue
  • Fascial tightness
  • Chronic or longstanding injuries

How Does Low-Level Laser Therapy Work?

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) uses infrared light to stimulate cellular activity, promoting healing and tissue repair. It helps improve blood and lymphatic circulation, supports the body's natural healing processes, and may reduce pain and inflammation.

Study and Evidence

In one study, 23 patients with breast lymphoedema (8 who had previously received radiation therapy) underwent weekly 10-minute treatments using a 904 nm low level laser for six weeks. The results showed:

  • Surgery was avoided in 91.3% of patients with Grade III/IV capsular contracture.
  • Breast stiffness was reduced by 10–95%, with an average reduction of 50.2%.
  • Patient comfort improved by 10–95%, with an average improvement of 52.1%
